The Society of Australian Systematic Biologists (SASB) is a non-profit, interdisciplinary organisation. We promote the study of biological systematics and share scientific and educational information related to taxonomy, phylogenetics, biogeography and biodiversity informatics. We are committed to morphological and molecular systematics as a basis for the study and understanding of nature.
There are currently more than 350 SASB members. Most work in Australian museums, herbaria, universities and government agencies. Others are privately employed or retired, and there are many overseas members. To join the SASB, just contact us with your details.
All correspondence within the SASB is by email. We maintain this website to communicate matters of general interest in biological systematics, to distribute the SASB newsletter Banksia and to offer resources of use to systematic biologists. Go to the news page for messages from the SASB Council and for announcements about jobs, courses, grants, scholarships and upcoming conferences.
The SASB co-sponsors conferences on systematics research and participates in public policy initiatives relevant to systematics. We also have face-to-face membership meetings every two years. For a record of meetings and other SASB business, see our archive pages.
